{black and blue}

earrings: bauble bar (similar here) // wedges: nine west (here) // pants: gap (similar here and less expensive option here) // shirt: forever 21 (similar here)
The paper-bag pants make a comeback! I'm completely obsessed with these black ones from gap, and can't seem to stop wearing them this fall! I love the light blue stripes on this button up, and think they contrast with the dark pants and shoes nicely. If your wearing "paper bag" pants like these, try rolling the cuffs and putting on a pair of heels or wedges to make the look feel a bit more polished.

Also, there's a new video up on youtube! It's an OOTW (outfits of the week) video that includes this look, as well as the look from last week's post! Check it out by clicking the image below.

{rollover}

It's finally feeling like fall here in the big apple, which means more layers and jackets! Whenever the weather cools off, one of my favorite things to do is wear cozy sweaters. For this outfit, I rolled the sweater's cuffs over the windbreaker, which added a bit of style to the basic jacket. Totally recommend doing this, especially with a patterned sweater!

{brooklyn babe}

sweater: vintage (similar here) // jeans: urban outfitters (similar here) // flats: nordstrom (similar here)

Last weekend I made the journey across the East River and over to Brooklyn! My friend Alex (ardor & acuity) and I went to the most amazing food festival right on the waterfront called Smorgasbord, where I had a fantastic dinner of homemade pasta and truffles. Since the weather was cool I decided to break out one of my favorite thrifted pieces from nyc thus far--this very vintage looking light-pink mohair sweater. I paired it with jeans to keep it casual. So enjoying this perfect fall weather!

{70's vibes}

Boots: thrifted (similar here and less expensive here) // Loft: thrifted (similar here) // Bracelet: borrowed (similar here)
10/9/15

Thought I'd throw it on back with today's post! If you follow my instagram (@thestylegenre) you know I'm obsessed with black and white photos, so I couldn't stop myself from turning some of today's pics b&w as well! These vintage boots definitely top the list of my thrifted finds this summer, and I'm so happy I can finally wear them after 3 months of sitting unused in my closet! I think a denim dress is a definite must-have in a fall wardrobe, and I love how it works with the suede boots for a 70's vibe.

{sharp stripe}

Skirt: Brandy Melville (similar here) // Top: borrowed (similar here) // Shoes: Steve Madden (similar here) // Sunnies: Nordstrom (similar here)

Welcome Fall! I'm finally feeling that October chill in the air, and I'm loving every minute of it. I even needed a scarf! This is one of my all-time favorite skirts, as its the perfect piece to transition from warmer weather into colder weather. It has the summery flare that I adore, but in a cold-weather fabric--suede! I love how the auburn-esque tones in the skirt work with the black and white in the rest of the outfit, and the way the knee-high boots work with the flirty skirt. Thanks to my roomie Hey Jule for the photography skills!

10/4/15

SWEATER WEATHER! (about time too). The weather here in the city did a complete 180 about two days ago, and it went from 80 degrees and boiling to rainy and cold. Buuuttt, that meant I got to pull out one of my favorite thrifted cashmere turtlenecks, so I think I'll survive. The rainy weather also meant I got to wear my adorable heeled rainbows, that I'm in love with. A fun way to play up a pair of rainboots is to pair them with high-socks, like the tan ones I'm wearing. Bonus: the socks will let you wear skirts while still keeping your legs nice and warm!

{autumn neutrals}

10/1/15

Since its the very first day of October (woo!), I figured I'd post about my favorite autumn neutrals, tan and amber! I love these giant earrings I got at a bauble bar sample sale over on 6th ave. I love how they work with the tan in my wide-leg pants too. Hopefully October will bring a bit more chill, so I can finally start pulling out my sweaters!
