ruffled up

sunnies: prada (here) // top: vintage (similar here & in pink here) // jeans: levis (here) // bag: vintage coach (similar here) // shoes: thrifted (I like these similar ones too)
Oh hey look, I have a blog! I though not having enough clothing here with me in Italy would be the thing that kept me from blogging, but turns out its school! (shocker: fashion school kills). It feels weird not being home for Thanksgiving, but I've got trips to Copenhagen and Amsterdam coming up in the next few weeks, so the time should fly right on by, and be at Christmas in no time! (SO EXCITED TO VISIT HOME). I'm so happy to finally be posting this top I got at a vintage store in Paris, which is super 80's cool (or 16th century outdated, take your pick). Anyway, paired with a pair of comfortable levis and my trusty coach bag, I think I even convinced my roommate Kelly (who 100% hated it) to possibly think it's passable ;)

embroidered booties

boots: cinti (here) // pants: gap // top: thrifted // glasses: prada (here)
Thoroughly in love with my new embroidered booties! I've been on the lookout for a new pair of winter shoes, and while these probably aren't the most practical of footwear, they sure are cute! Paired them with two things of my favorite color (pink, anyone?), a thrifted top from paris that looks like something I probably would have worn in elementary school, and my go-to leather tote!

Side note: Remember with all this election craziness going that it's always more beneficial and productive to build others up than to pull others down...and a prayer wouldn't hurt either <3

warm tones

dress: cabi (other knit floral dresses I like herehere, & here) // shoes: converse here) // sunnies: ann taylor (here I'm wearing the rose gold color)
Back at it in Florence! This week has been nice and warm in comparison to the last couple, which have been chilly and rainy (particularly bad when we're not allowed to turn on the heat in the apartment until November). Thus, today called for my favorite medium-weight knit dress from Cabi,  my go-to white scarf, & the shoes I've been pretty much living in (ily converse). Loved this adorable little street we shot on today--the lighting was so warm and inviting! Super excited to explore the Tuscan countryside with my mom and aunt this weekend, I'll do my best to put together a post about it next week!
xoxo, Kayla

Gardens of Versailles

boots: steve madden (similar here) // skirt: thrifted topshop (similar here & here) // turtleneck: zara (similar here & here) // earrings: Mango (here)
Bonjour from Versailles! Back home in Florence now, but still wishing I was in France! As much as I love studying abroad in Florence, I think Paris took a piece of my heart (or maybe I just missed the hustle & bustle of nyc!). Anyways, Kelly (thanks boo!) took these pictures of me in the stunning gardens at Versailles, which truly had the most beautiful landscaping I've ever seen. We loved exploring the palace's interior and exterior, but it was definitely the gardens that stole the show! I wore a nice lightweight turtleneck to contend with the flip-flopping weather, and a thrifted topshop skirt with over-the-knee boots to keep my legs from freezing! My favorite part of the look was the earrings though (get them here for a steal!)

dotty

dress: vintage (similar here) // shoes: soudos (here) // hoops: nordstrom (similar here)
Ciao bellas! I can't believe it's been two weeks since I last posted, life has been c-r-a-z-y with projects recently! I suppose I'll just have to learn to be more"Italian" about it, they're all so go with the flow here! Pretty much anything with polka dots always seems to make its way home with me, especially if its black & white, and from a vintage store (italian, polka-dotted, black & white, vintage...what more could a girl ask for?). I paired it with my red suede soludos, and with these sweet roses I got from a flower truck I pass on my way to school every morning (quite dangerous for flower loving gals like me). Plus, you can never go wrong with a bow!

bell sleeves on the bridge

dress: zara (here) // shoes: converse (here) // bag: italian leather store (similar (here) // sunnies: ann taylor
Ciao! First week of classes are checked off the to-do list, along with a lot of the general assimilation chores (ya know, wifi, a working phone, credit card etc), so yay for being a functional person! My first two purchases here in Florence have been this poplin zara dress/romper (find it here) that I am absolutely in love with, and a light pink leather tote my roomie Kelly and I found at a little leather shop on our way to the grocery store. Though I did manage to drop my ice cream cone on my dress within the first hour of wearing it, I managed to get the strawberry gelato stain out, and force Kelly to take blog pics on the bridge for me! (thanks gf). Bonus points: the bridge leads to a gelato place #praise

Insta Recap: Firenze

Ciao from Firenze! If you can't tell by the last two weeks where I've posted NOTHING, just look below to see how I've been handling life recently (aka where the heck am I and what am I doing with my life). After moving to sunny San Diego (for one whole week) and then packing up to head off to Italy, I haven't quite had my crap together! I have, however, been able to take a few insta snaps (@kaylamaryly) in Italy over the past week, which are below!
1. attempting to find my way around Florence. What happened to Manhattan's grid-ed and numbered streets?! #help
2. The street where I live for the next 9 months! eek! (how adorable are those green shutters though)

3. My mode of transportation...? (I wish) Found this flower truck on the walk to school yesterd
4. WINE FLAVORED GELATO. That is all.
5. Dancing my way through the lack of AC anywhere
6. The ceiling of Polimoda, my college here! Literally this is what I look up at in Renaissance Art Wednesday mornings. Like, what? Blessed.

on Great Pond

shorts: ann taylor (on sale!! regular sizes here and more sizes in petite here) // top: loft (similar here) // shoes: madewell (super similar here) // sunnies (similar here

Today's the day!! In appx. 7 hours we will be on our way to a new adventure/home in Southern California! As our moving truck traveled cross-country, we spent the week up with family in Maine, enjoying the lakes in Belgrade, and the ocean in York. Up in Belgrade by the lakes, we spent most the day out on Great Pond behind my grandparent's house; double darting, water skiing, and swimming. These shorts (my last purchase from Ann Taylor!) are light and perfect for summer--plus they're on sale here! I paired them with a tied-up top from loft, and a pair of leather slides I've been living in this summer since I got them on sale at madewell.

overalls in PA

scarf: urban outfitters (similar here) // shoes: (here) // overalls (similar here--love all of madewells!) // top: anthro (similar here)
It seems like life has been on a constant fast-forward these past couple months, and I can barely keep up! With the move to California less than two weeks away, life has been absolutely packed with things to do (and with boxes!). My bestie Jule and her family were kind enough to not only let me crash at their house in PA for a couple days, but also store all my college stuff for me when I'm in Florence (so unbelievable generous). We snapped a few blog photos when we went into town--most of the things I'm wearing are Julia's! (still constantly on the hunt for the perfect overalls, the madewell ones I linked are out of my size)  :(
