{piña}

blouse: anthropologie (similar here and here) // shoes: athens flea market find (similar here) // shorts: a&f (similar here)
I've only been back in New York for three days, and I'm already having major vacation withdrawals-- take me back to the beach and warm-weather clothing! I'm so in love with the off the shoulder trend, and this white one from anthro is soooo easy to style (and super comfortable too!). And, of course, why not model with a pineapple, right? ps: balancing a fruit on your head is a tad bit harder than people on pinterest make it look ;)

{easter best}

dress: asos old (other structured asos dresses I love are linked below) // shoes: shoedazzle (similar here) // bag: vintage coach (similar here)
Happy (day after) Easter everyone! Sorry for the delay in posting--yesterday ended up being super hectic between spending time with the family and getting back to NYC for school. Hope everyone had a wonderful Easter, and got to spend time with faith and family! I absolutely love dressing up for the holiday every year (annual family photo-op woo hoo!), and this year I broke out an oldie but goodie--my sophomore year homecoming dress! I think the pastel purple worked perfectly for Easter, and the black purse, shoes, and sweater added a bit of contrast. I linked some other structured dresses from asos I love down below, and hopefully they'll inspire you for next year!

{punta can-i never leave?}

Greetings from Punta Cana! It's my last day here (sadness), but we're making the most of it by biking around the town and spending a few more hours on the beach. It has been so unbelievably gorgeous and relaxing, and the Dominican people are quite possibly the nicest ones in the world. I got to spend some quality family time with my parents, which was much needed! Haven't worn a one-peice in years, but this scalloped one from target (which has seriously stepped up its swimwear game) was calling my name, and I ended up loving it (particularly after my chest got rather burnt--it hid my lobster-esque coloring).

{beach essentials: fashionista vs comfort lover}

Since I just got all settled in here in Punta Cana (thank goodness for the much needed rest & relaxation), I thought I would make a post about beach essentials! Like most people (I would assume) I can go one of two ways when it comes to beach dressing--I either attempt to style my outfit and look "fashionable", or I decide to not give a crap and put comfort first. So, here are two different versions of my "beach looks", one for the fashionista in you, and one for the comfort lover!

THE FASHIONISTA:

Looking cute for a beach day can actually be a lot of fun--it's a different variation of putting together a look for yourself! There's something about a floppy straw hat that has that quintessential beachy vibe, and always makes me feel just a tad more elegant as I trudge my way through the sand (usually tripping in the process). You can find the hat here, the sundress here, the swimsuit here, and the fun sunnies here!

THE COMFORT LOVER

...but sometimes you just don't give a crap right? Ultimately you should dress however YOU want to for the beach, and for me, that often means putting my hair in a messy bun and throwing on a baseball cap. Complete the look with classic ray-bans and a cozy sweatshirt ;)
You can find the comfy-looking bikini here, the yankees cap (disclaimer: I really don't care about baseball teams) here, the uber-cozy sweatshirt here, and the aviators here!

{tweed}

jacket: loft (similar here and less expensive option here) // skirt: zara (similar here on sale) // boots: thrifted
Spring break is in 2 days for me, and I seriously don't think I could be more excited! (I promise an overload of beachy photos if you follow me on instagram @thestylegenre) ;) Hope everyone has been enjoying their spring breaks, and if you don't have one, at least enjoying the nice weather! If you can't tell from the length of my skirt, it was absolutely gorgeous last weekend! I finally got to spend some much needed time outdoors pickniking and biking along the Hudson. Wearing the boots and tweed jacket helped to keep the outfit transitional, and added an extra layer of warmth that made up for keeping my legs bare. Shop the look below, and definitely check out this awesome similar denim skirt from urban outfitters--love it (and it's on sale!!!)

{flowers & friends}

overalls: zara (similar here) // turtleneck: jcrew (here) // shoes: london rebel (similar here)
 Happy Fri-yay friends! I literally could not be happier after a night of MUCH needed rest (an average of 4 am for bedtime really shouldn't be happening), and am pleased to say I got my full 9 hours last night! Even better--I can finally feel Spring in the air! The past few days have been absolutely gorgeous. The roomies and I wandered down to Greenwich to take these photos, and I think the flowers are perfect considering the fact that Spring is just around the corner. Kept it casual with overalls and a turtleneck layered underneath--my roommate Soobin got the overalls on sale at zara, but I love them so much I might have to step 'em from her!

{hats off}

lipstick: stila (here) // hat: thrifted (very similar here) // blouse: a&f (similar here) // purse: thrifted coach willis (I like this modern one a lot as well!)
Happy Monday everyone! I'm running on basically no sleep after a super fun weekend spent  around the city with my dad, and a fun birthday dinner last night for one of my besties--but gotta push through the Monday blues right? I've been living in these ripped jeans from target, who knew target stepped up their denim game so much!? Kept it super simple and classic with a white blouse and a red lip, and for a finishing touch added this fun hat I got at buffalo exchange a couple weeks ago!

{cape}

earmuffs: zara (similar here) // heels: thrifted (these are a cool boot version) // jeans: target (similar here) // cape: misguided (similar here)
Friday, woo! It's chilly here in the city again, so I guess it's not quite time to put away the ear muffs just yet. I'd been wanting a cape for such a long time, so I was super excited to get one for christmas back in December! It took me a little while to figure out how I wanted to style it, but it ended up working well with my white sweater and lace up heels. Pairing the cape with the ripped skinnies helped keep the outfit more casual, and of course the earmuffs were a necessity with the wind! Hope everyone has a fabulous weekend! xoxo
